Hi there, I have naturally curly hair too and I wanna go short, ive been searching the net for a nice style and the one i really like at the moment is Meg Ryan's in the film City of Angels
Meg Ryan Looks fantastic with almost any short hair and any texture. She has been sporting shag, bob, choppy, layered, wavy, curly and she is mostly famous for her tousle look. Here is a photo of
The key to cutting curly hair short is to get an INVERTED bob. Imagine getting a bob - you would have "triangle" hair, right? (I've been there. It was a bad 6th grade year) The inverted bob is essentially taking the triangle and putting it upside down. Thus you get body and fullness around the head/ears and then it tapers off a little at the nape of the neck or a little lower. Also when done correctly this style needs little maintenance. I cut my hair every three months.
I've been told by several stylists that you are either a short/long person or a medium person. So, you might hate the mid length cut you get, but ultimately might love a super short cut. When I cut my curly hair I found I had to go shorter to get rid of the curl (and just leave body) and had to cut it often (every 4 weeks) to keep it in shape, but I liked the cut a lot. I kept it short for about 2 years and it took about a year and half to grow it back, but it was well worth it to cut it.
I have naturally curly hair too, and I used to think that it was horrible and that I couldn't do anything. I decided to cut my hair short as well, but my stylist didn't understand the "cut it dry" rule and it turned out really bad and I kinda hated it. So if you are going to go short make sure that your stylist understands the dry rule and don't make the mistake I did.
I have very short curly hair and I like it. Actually, I am always changing my hair from longish curly to buzz cut, so I am very adventurous with my hair. I think people need to understand that hair grows back, so if you did not like the hair cut wait it out for a time and then it will be fine. This is the key to get the courage to get a haircut Also, I agree with others and I think that your hair frames your face well, but everybody needs a change once in a while. Try it. But make sure that you go to a place that knows curly hair. Good luck on your decision.
I had long wavy hair, not as curly as yours and i cut it short. Mine went much more curly and i prefer it short. I agree that you should maybe do it in steps, in case you really don't like it!!
GO FOR IT! Honestly my hair was just like yours, if not longer... and I cut it into the new style afro curly look that alot of models have, and I LOVE IT!!! ...
Hello, My name is Eveneises but you can call me Evenie..... Im a professional Hair stylist and you have wonderful curly hair. A tip for you is that if you cut it your curls will bounce up shorter than it usually have it... So my advice to you is to trim it first and see how you like it, Then, If you do like it keep it or grow it out. BUT BE CAREFUL FOR SPLIT ENDS!!!! *YIKES* If you want to you can email me at deraljonesfarm@yahoo.com
Hello, you and i both have similar curls, and mine was long, like near waist long and i went short , falling right at shoulders, and chopped in 3layers to add a bit of volume and so it wont do the yield sign effect, it looks a lot healthier although it involves having to keep up with it . but none-th-less i say go for it .....good luck
