Adding a Straightener to Naturally Curly Hair...

by Carlie
(Utah, USA)

Anyone who has tried to permanently straighten their curly hair has probably noticed that it doesn't work unless you spend an hour or so (more for me because i have so much hair) blow drying it and straightening it with a straight iron.

Permanently straightening my hair definitely calmed the curls though. When I had my baby, I didn't have the time to straighten it all the time, but when I wore it curly, I noticed the curls were softer, looser and I didn't need as much product to keep the frizz under control.

I have the type of hair that if I let it air dry without any product in it, I look like a circus clown. My hair is pretty long so it doesn't look pretty. And if I used mousse or gel and I missed a spot, that spot frizzed out and looked terrible. So I always used tons of product. My hair was always so crunchy and stiff because of it.

I had my hair permanently straightened at a hair school and since then, my hair has been easy to work with, less frizz, less product (leaving my hair softer and shinier). Just a suggestion for those with unruly frizzy curls!
