Blonde Hair Color to Choose - Need Help

I want to get my hair dyed blonde; but I'm having trouble as to what shade of blonde to get. My mother thinks that a light shade of blonde, like honey blonde or ash blonde is too light for me; she thinks that it will make me look bad because I'm pale skinned. Does anyone have any idea what shade I should get?
