Buildup on hair

I have some kind of buildup on my hair. It's only on the hair around my face. It looks a little like lice eggs but I'm sure its something else. Is there some kind of shampoo that removed build up? I'm guessing its a combination of shampoo, conditioner and hairspray in addition to blowdrying and curling thats causing the problem since its only around my face, (the hair I curl and spray)
