How its works by: Anne
I recently had the Brazilian Keratin Treatment at a Sydney salon - here it is marketed as the Latino. Only one salon in Sydney (and possibly Australia has this treatment). I was very impressed with the result. I have previously had the Japanese retexturing treatment several times and do not like the DEAD straight result or the subsequent dry condition of the hair.
Reaearching the Brazilian Keratin Method on the Internet, I was horrified to see stories about formaldehyde content.
I would very much like to know if Caribbean Dream Relaxer is similar to the Brazilian Keratin Method, does it contain formaldehyde, how long do the effects last?
Carribean Dream Smells Horrible by: marianela
I have had several straightning techniques, 44 years old have curly hair, always wanted and love straight hair. I recently had the 'Carribean Dream' done and was very excited that the chemical content of this product was small and i tried it. This product smells very very bad. It makes your head smell like a weird rotten/medicinal odor.
I had it and waited the two days washed my hair several times and my scalp still smells so terrible that i cant sleep. My husband (who never notices anything) told me that my hair smells so bad what happened??? he said call the hair salon something is definately wrong!
My hair is straight but is it worth it, definitely not! This is week two and i can still smell this horrible disgusting odor. I wish i had never tried it. Hope this helps anyone thinking of trying this new product.
PS... I have used all types of straightners including the lye and this is the absolute worst!!!!!
brazilian starightener, formaldehyde free by: Barbara
I had the brazilian keratin treatrment done in a salon in melbourne called Blunt Salons. They use one called Global Keratin. It definately does not have formaldehyde as i did my research to make sure. The other one called latino does have formaldehyde in it so i avoided it as i have read that there is alot of evidence saying this is a carcenogen.......I want straight hair but without the cancer thanks. There are a couple of salons in Sydney that are using Global Keratin. Look at there australian website.I hope this helps you.

Caribbean Dream Relaxer by:
Marianela, The hair start to smell if its not rinsed and conditioned properly right after process by your hairdresser. This hair straightening system contains Cysteamine Hydrochloride which is very mild in compare to other relaxers in market, but the smell is much stronger. If the hair is rinsed and conditioned correctly, you won't get that smell at all.
