Colour Idea For Dark Brown Hair - Yellow Tan Skin Tone?
by Alison N.

My hair colour now
I have short dark brown-black hair and yellow-tan skin tone. I've been thinking of dying my hair a shade lighter but I don't want it to be too different to my natural hair colour.
Should I leave it naturally the way it is or Dye it a shade lighter or get lighter shade highlights? any suggestions?
Also is there any good do it yourself hair dye kits or brands thats affordable and good for your hair?

I think copper highlights would look really nice in your hair colour and it wont damage it too much like bleach.
I think that is a good idea to make your hair lighter by using hi lites . It will be less up keep and also the look will be more attractive , because you will have a darker contrast of your own dark color. I suggest using a level 6 ash for your foils and mixing it with 40 volume developer .
Your hair and skin colour seem similar to my own and I've recently been thinking of dying my hair. I had the idea of adding some caramel coloured highlights or something like that...I think it would look nice (:
In regards to the above statements....I think it would look amazing for you to add some caramel highlights. I was in your shoes about a yr. ago. My hair was the same color as yours and I had my hair stylist add some soft, caramel highlights. When she was done, it looked amazing. It was just enough to bring out my eyes and face without completely destroying the dark brown. I loved it and so did everyone that knew me. :)
That's my natural color, I have really pale skin. Do not try to go lighter at home, it could possibly turn a brassy color, that looks un-natural. I know its expensive but it's worth it.
