Dark Brown Hair With Golden Glow And Not Auburn
by Faye Majere

Hello, I have medium ash golden brown hair, which I have darkened. Nearly all brunette dyes I've tried seem to contain a high amount of red tone, and I can't seem to stop it glowing orange, auburn or even cherry red!
I want a 'golden' glow to my hair(true gold, more yellowish. not the orangey shade some dye's advertise as golden), no obvious orange or red. There was a dye I used to use that would do this, but I think they've changed it because it went red again :(
Please help? I know where to get a decent ash dye, but I need one that will put my gold back in without the red...
Not Auburn Color

First, let me explain to you that an ASH color is grey, and it is the opposite of gold. Gold hair color has more "YELLOW" to it and you can't have both color tones at the same time. So now that you know that, lets try to solve your problem. It seems that your hair has become overly processed, too much, too often!? Sometimes if you color your hair too often, it becomes overly porous and the color fades faster and doesn't hold as well.
I recommend to condition your hair with a good conditioning treatment such as Creme DE Coco Masque by Bumble & Bumble (This is not a conditioner that you normally use after the shampoo ). Keep doing this at least once per week for 4 to 5 weeks until you hair is healthier and can hold the color.
After that you can color your hair again using a deep golden brown color such as a level 4.3 color with 20 volume developer. Leave it on the re-growth (roots) for 10 minutes and then apply on the rest of the hair for 20 minutes and finish with a golden brown shampoo (to maintain the color).
Invest in a good brown color conditioner to keep the hair from turning red again and continue to use a conditioning treatment at least once a month.
