Got sick from using the new aldehyde hair treatment

by Sick of getting sick

Please be careful for these products have gotten myself and others very sick in our salon. They say they are safe???? well no long term studies have been done to prove any of this info they are telling us.

The staff at our salon has suffered burning eyes sore throats and suffered respiratory complications from the use of these products. Please beware for the FDA does not monitor these products nor does your state.

The one thing to be careful of is if your client has any asthma condition or any respiratory conditions, do not use any of these products for it can really harm them. ASK FOR A CHEMICAL FACT SHEET WHEN BUYING THESE PRODUCTS AND DO YOUR HOME WORK BEFORE USING THEM FOR THEY WILL MAKE YOU SICK. They are using Aldehyde which is the new chemical (ORGANIC they say) but when mixed with the rest of the chemicals to produce the straightener it creates a chemical dangerous gas and fumes that could possibly kill you over time. SO BUYER BEWARE OF THE NEW KILLER.

opinions not facts

Having used keratincomplex smoothing therapy by Coppola for over a year and had amazing results, all my clients love that there hair is smooth shiny and sexy, so easy to maintain.
When it first came out,we had it looked into by a chemist ,who was a client, and having checked it out,she felt it would be as safe as any other service that we offer in the salon(tint, relaxer perm)
The Fact is Coppola have done the research and development and have brought out a product that does what its says and if used professionally will give great results every time.

DONT DO KERATIN TREATMENTS

Do Not Use!!! I am a hair stylist and now have Asthma!!! It is SOOOOOO dangerous look the chemical up online Aldehyde that they say is so ORGANIC YEA BULL. When heated it becomes a chemical that causes, Leukemia, Brain @ Lung cancer!!! Beware it also causes Contact Dermatitis(hives).

After one treatment....

I just had the Coppolla Keratin Treatment done yesterday. So far so good. BUT...I keep reading all these things about it causing brain cancer, lung cancer, leukemia, asthma, etc. I think, even if I love the treatment, that I have read enough to probably not do this again. What I want to know is....after one treatment, did I expose myself to enough to possibly get any of these ailments, or is it due to prolonged treatments? I didn't experience any irritation on my skin, trouble breathing, and only minor eye watering (same as if you had a single process color on your scalp). Can someone let me know if I should be scared now of something happening from this one time?

Don't worry. Single or even multiple treatments in 3-5 weeks interval won't harm you in any way. The health concern is more for those that work with the product (stylists!) or those with medical conditions like asthma! If you like the result then why not!

After one treatment

Thank you for the response. I have to say now...after almost one week of having this done....my hair is FABULOUS. The ONLY part I wasn't fond of was the fact that I couldn't wash, touch, clip, bend or ANYTHING for three days. I was so excited on "wash out" day. After my shampoo, it took the stylist 20 minutes to blow my hair out (less than 1/2 the time) and NO flat iron was needed. I am washing myself tonight and will see myself how it is when I do it. I am also curious to see how it is the first time I leave it to air dry. Still curious as to the chemical mixture and all that I've been reading, but my hair didn't break off and so far so good.
