My daughter has gone from blonde to dark chocolate brown at the hairdresser but we keep having to go back every 3 weeks as colour washes out and hair colour is now light brown/auburn.

She would like to be a rich glossy dark brown what colour would you suggest to do and maintain this colour. Cant afford the money at hair dressers every three weeks? Help

Hair Colour Washes Out Fast

If your daughter's hair colour fades that fast (3 weeks) then there is something wrong. Professional colour job - with proper care - should and will last longer than that ( 4 to 6 weeks). I can think of couple of reasons:

If she used to be a blond then she probably bleached her hair. Her hair may have been slightly porous to hold the new colour. There are ways to correct this problem with pre-conditioning the hair and using balancers and toners to deposit more colour pigments.

Hair colour will fade faster if she don?t use special colour treated shampoos. Normal shampoos will strip the colour from hair shaft.

However, this problem will normally correct itself after several salon visits (or if you decided to do it at home) as long as you don?t wait. As soon as hair started to fade it?s time for next colouring appointment. It's harder to tint faded hair colour and probably more expensive in long run.
Good Luck!
