Hair Disaster - Styling Wavy and Thick Hair

This is how my hair is supposed to look, but about to this girls ear, maybe a little longer..?

I got my hair cut yesterday, and it's nothing how I wanted it to look. My hair is very wavy and thick, but now it's thicker and isn't poofing out, it clings onto the left side of my head, and the right side is slightly poofy. I thought about straightening it, but wouldn't that make it worse? Also, my haircut person cut my bangs so they are thin, volumized, and sweeped to the right side of my head. D: I don't know how to style my hair.
