How can I style my hair differently?

by Claire
(Perth)

I have brown short hair that sits just above my shoulders with some layers. I always style my hair in a pony tail with all the leftover layers coming out at the sides and it looks like an inverted bob, but i want to be able to style it different.

When ever i straighten my hair and leave it down it messes up the time im at school. And when i try to curl my hair it looks like a frizz bomb! HELP PLEASE!!!??? Theres a pic of what it looks like straight , soz it not very clear, only one i can get,xOxOx

Well first off with the curling thing, the right products help. When I am working with clients with hair like yours, I usually use Paul Mitchell Super Skinny or Kendra's super skinny it helps smooth down the hair some and then helps with the frizz problem.

The other thing you can do is blow dry your hair and scrunch it and then to make the curl more defined use a medium heat curling iron or flat iron and touch things up a bit.

The other thing you can do it backcomb and put a bit of a poof in it, but make sure to use hair spray on each 1/2 inch sections you pull up and then comb toward the scalp, leaving the first section fairly smooth for a layer to cover the matt look of the back coming it always looks good and holds most of the day.
