I Colored My Hair Black - How Can I Change It ?

I had colored my hair honey blonde the first time ever because it went with my skin complexion. I'm a caramel complexion. I had that color for almost 3 years! Recently I colored my hair black and I want to do burgundy! but I can't!
I was told that once the hair is colored black, no going back! I guess i have to wait until it comes off on its own, but IF there's anything I can do to rush this process or anything I can do so I can still color my hair, please help me!!
Unfortunately they are correct. Black dyed hair needs to fade off unless bleached but if you want to add a red shade you do need to ask a pro. 
If you colored it by a permanent hair dye then you would need professional job to take your hair several level lighter before any attempt for burgundy. If its semi permanent then it will wash out and you can recolor with another tone. But choose a dark color or it get patchy
