I Have a Fauxhawk Hairstyle and I Want Long Extensions
by Ileanna
(Atlanta, GA)
The sides are now about 1" but with a perm about...1.5"
How do I go from a fauxhawk hair style to extensions, and how long do my sides need to be for them to work? I am African American but have very fragile hair. HELP!!!!!

Yes you can have extensions from the fauxhawk short style
by: Jesse Briggs, Florida1. Yes you may have extensions from the fauxhawk short style if hairs on sides are 2" long and straight, you may bond the hair in 1/4" strands of hair to look natural.
Example: GREAT LENGHTS has 25 strains per bundle and those can be cut and bonded to hair on sides in 1/4" strands, so that’s 100 small strands to look natural per bundle.
3. Most heads take 5 to 7 bundles to really look natural and you may have short bob or shoulder length or mid back to waist, but in this case of your present hair so short your best style would be just above shoulder until hair grows longer.
4. Another choice is choosing a top experience extension expert to have a consultation to be sure you feel comfortable for the investment of your new look.
5. Another note: be clear with extension expert about the price in total before making the decision and investment. The extension should and last 5 months when installed correctly by an extension-stylist. The magic about EXTENSIONS is one day you have short hair and the next day long hair and you can’t tell its extensions, now that’s fun and everyone who knows you says WOW,
6. Last note: There are special care, your extension expert will go over with you for hair maintenance and care and you must follow these guides by what ever brand you choose for your hair to not slip off hair and bond become weak, the brand you choose will explain this in detail by stylist, extensions are fun,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
6. Finally you can blend two colors of dark brown and black called multi blending to really look natural, by bonding these two at the same time of installation in one step, ask your extension expert about this.
