I want to go red?

I want to dye my hair red like the bright red off teh adverts. My natural hair colour is brown but ive been platinum blonde for a long time now. I wear fake tan so my skin colour has a glow to it but my natural skin colour is very fair. I have really blue eyes too. With this info please advise as to if it would be waste of time even to consider going red if you can with the information i have provided. Thanks :-)
