Keratin Treatment - Aldehyde myth busted
by Bella Blu
(Brazil)
I live in Brazil and I'm a little bit shocked by what I just read... Over here the use of Formaldehyde - and all it's derivatives - is no longer permitted in over the counter hair products.
It really doesn't matter what name they give it - and that is all they are doing here - This chemical and ALL its derivatives can cause respiratory and other lung problems. It's also very bad for your chest and throat and should be avoided.
I don't want to sound like a spoil sport, and you can easily find products which do not contain dangerous poisons but still create a semi-permanent and wonderfully straight look.
In Brazil, these products are known as Escova Progressiva. They're the same as other Keratin hair straighteners but they contain only safe chemicals and compounds. Sure they have Keratin, but instead of using Aldehyde, Formaldehyde and whatever else, they utilize alcohol to create the emulsion necessary for bonding the Keratin to your hair.
You can buy products like Escova Intelligente or Zene Progress online and they are a much safer option than treatments like Coppolla, which have been proven to contain dangerously high amounts of ingredients likely to cause health problems.
Hate to spoil everybody's fun here, but with a little searching you should easily be able to find alternatives that are every bit as good, if not better.
