Simple style while growing hair - HELP!!

Here is the scoop... I chopped my beautiful long hair off once I joined the military. That was two years ago, and I had a good style going, but now I want long hair back. Its at that stage were it just looks like a hot mess. Now im currently deployed, so i just want a simple style that allows me to grow it out still. Can anyone help???

I think a cute style like Ashley would be a good option while growing the hair. You don't have to wear it wavy like this photo but you can always place some random waves on sides and top using a curling iron. All you need is some mousse and moulding cream to achieve this look and using your fingers mostly as styling tool.
Styles for short short hair

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm currently deployed in Iraq. And when I got to Kuwait I chopped all of it off cause of the sweat and sand. It's helpful but when I go back wearing the beret is gonna be horrid. So I'm also trying to get it to where i can pull it back.
Right now all I'm doing is keeping the back trimmed above the collar. The front is long enough that it's falling in my eyes. So I just pull back the front and use a barrett to keep the back down. then i pull a little bit back on the sides at the top so it doesn't poof out. smooth it out with a little gel and i'm good to go. the only prob. that i've had to far with it is the side barretts keep getting pulled down by my PC. that's how i found this i was googling new ideas for short hair. And since we're in the military it's harder for us to style it all nice like and still be in regulations.
