The Meltdown - Sharing Experience on Naturally Curly Hair
by A Curly Friend
(VA, America)
I am quite young (really young to be exact), but I know how to care for my naturally curly hair already. You see, I had a teacher with naturally curly hair, I asked her how she kept it so nice, and she told me!
I used to brush, comb, pick, whatever was closes, but only every once in a while (the act of a still growing up-er), and I didn't even always do that! Sometimes in the morning, I would just take my hair down, shake it, and put it back up. But, I never liked it, because it was always fizzy, wild, poofy, tangly, and so on.
You just have to make sure you are using the right shampoo and conditioner, which is hard for me because I am the only one in my family who even has curly hair, but we manage and it means less trips to buy it.
As for haircuts and styles, find a hair dresser with naturally curly hair herself (I do prefer a girl stylist), if she has it, she will understand you position. Get one you trust, like an old friend, a friend of a friend, or a relative. Don't be shy to open up if you know what you want but they don't seem to understand. Tell them in the end if you end up not liking it, they will most likely fix it for you (especially if they know you), and sometimes they will fix it for free. Good luck!!!
