Thinning Hair - 23 years old
by Nathena

I am 23 yrs old with thinning hair. I have a list of medical problems and I keep losing a LOT of hair and now I hardly have enough to keep in a pony. I am desperate and I need some help figuring out what I can do to thicken it up. Any advice?

I am sorry you are going through this. I have alopecia aerata a condition where for some reason, the autoimmune system attacks the hair follicle. I am in my 40's, but have been dealing with this since I was about 4 years old. It goes dormant for a couple of years, and then comes back. There is no known reason for this. Ask your doctor to run thyroid test, parathyroid tests too. You could get steroid shots on your scalp. I used to do this, but got tired of going to the doctor getting shots in my scalp. Good luck!
