What to Do With Dandruff ?

I've had dandruff for a while now and it's really annoying to me. I've wash my hair with all types of medicated shampoos, that I can afford, and The Dandruff is still there!!!
I never really have had dandruff problem before until I cut my hair short a year ago and started taking care of my hair by putting all these chemicals in it. I don't know what to do next.
I cut my hair shorter than I had the first time and the dandruff isn't as bad a before but it is there anyways.
What can I do to control it?
I was watching The Doctors one day and they had a dermatologist on the show talking about dandruff. He suggested using the medicated shampoos, Nizoral, Head and Shoulders, etc...but to leave the shampoo in your hair for at least 30 min. then rinse it out.I hope this may help a little bit. I use Nizoral about twice a week and I mix it with my reg shampoo, but I have an oily scalp I try to keep under control. 
I have been searching the net for hours about Dandruff cures. I believe that dandruff is only a symptom of a problem and putting a cream on my scalp is only masking the problem. I do not have a cure yet but would like one. I know I have much stress in my life and that is not going to away. I believe dandruff is nutritionally caused. So far vitamin B6 appears to be the direction I will go.
