I have had my hair that length and i have curly hair, i found that if i blow dried it straight then took some gel and ran it through (not too much, very little!!!) then took a curling iron to it sporadically, it was sort of a party look.

Add some curls

I have chin-length bob. My stylist showed me how to do some curls and flicks throughout the front section. Use both small and large barrel tongs and pin the hair to the side of your head and let it stay for 30 minutes. Then remove the clips and comb out the curls gently to create a more natural look. Use hairspray all over to hold. It looks great for a night out. Now I'm looking for a new hair color.

I have the same problem. I find with straight hair it always looks dramatic and party-ish to curl it, and with curly hair, straightening it can give you a completely different look. I wouldn't consider coloring too often.
