The idea that things like antioxidants (such as glutathione) and fatty acids (Omega 3&6) may help improve your hair is not junk science.

In fact worldwide recognized hair specialist, Dr. Antonella Tosti, conducted a study and published an article on this. With 120 participants, she was able to show that these simple supplemental therapies helped people.

The aim of the study was to evaluate vs. control, the effects on hair loss of a 6‐month supplementation with specific omega 3&6 and antioxidants.

Her research, along with others, is published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology (Volume 14, Issue 1). In the article’s conclusion, the authors write, "A 6‐month supplementation with omega 3&6 and antioxidants acts efficiently against hair loss in improving hair density and reducing the telogen percentage and the proportion of miniaturized anagen hair. Objectively measured improvements were confirmed by the subjects’ perception of efficacy."

Unfortunately the entire article is not viewable if your library does not subscribe to the journal. You can go to the link below and see a brief summary.

It’s interesting that none of the dermatologists that I have seen have recommended this as an adjunct therapy.

I mean we can all easily buy omega 3&6 from our nearest drug store, and we can modify our diets to consume more of it. Antioxidants can be purchased as supplements or can be consumed through antioxidant-rich foods like blueberries.

However the dermatologists that I have encountered do not promote these things. It seems that some dermatologists may have this information, but the naturopathic doctors are the ones who promote it.

I would guess that promoting MONAT pays a lot more than promoting supplements that you can buy at your local drug store or order online.
Here is a link to MONAT global. If you scroll down a bit, you will see Dr. Antonella Tosti is on the advisory board. https://monatglobal.com/scientific-board/

It’s interesting that a doctor who is supposed to be working to cure hair loss is on the board of a company that has been known to cause hair loss. Hopefully, she is there to make them better. I wonder what happens when she gets a patient who says MONAT made their hair fall out.

If you google "MONAT hair loss", you will see people are experiencing adverse reactions and hair loss with MONAT as we experienced with Brazilian Blowout. Of course, MONAT claims not to use formaldehyde like many of the rest of them. I read the ingredients on one of their shampoos. It’s an enormous list of things, many of which, I have never heard of.

I don’t think it would hurt to add to some antioxidants and Omegas to your routine, and it may actually help. I think Vitamin D is also a very important supplement to take.

Regardless of what supplements you take, be careful when ordering on amazon.com. There are a lot of imposters and scammers on amazon.

Pureencapsulations.com and Thorne.com are what I prefer. These brands are often available through naturopathic doctors as well.
