Up to 6 or 8 rows of extension required for lengthening short hair 2 to 4 rows extension could be enough for lengthening past shoulder length hair

I recently shaved the back of my head and I'm starting to miss having long hair. I still have quite long bangs, and I was wondering if I could still get extensions?

Extension if back of hair is short

In order to make hair appear natural and evenly distributed, hair extensions are added in number of rows on the back of hair. Each row (depends on client hair texture and density) placed either as a solid block of extension or placed individual bundle with ¼" spacing in between. To lengthen shorter hair you will need more rows – Thicker hair types need more hair extension than thinner hair types.

For micro ring extension or cold fusion technique with hair strands in pre-tipped bundles; thin short hair will need at-least 150-200 extensions and thicker hair will probably need over 250.

But one thing is certain – You need hair in the back of hair to make this possible. Hair length from fringe/crown will not be enough to create extension for back of hair. You will need at least 3" of hair in the back of hair and around 5-6" of hair on top layers.

You also need to consider once extension placed, stylist need to cut and thin-out the hair for at least 1" to get rid of solid lines in order to make you hair appear natural and blended with rest.
